Obituary

Betty Jo Sherouse Layne, born March 15th, 1934, in Deckers, Colorado, entered into God's loving embrace on June 7th, 2021 in Loveland, Colorado, after a valiant battle with cancer.

She attended Alameda High School in Denver where she met her lifelong partner, Jerry Ray Layne. They were married on November 21st, 1951. Together they raised two daughters, Linda and Patricia, alongside 3 generations of their Denverite families.

Betty was a friend to all who knew her and is greatly mourned and missed by many in her Church, golfing and McKee Pulmonary Rehab communities. She was an active volunteer, confidant and presented considerable challenges to opponents on the golf course.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Clara Sherouse, and siblings Lucy Payne, Caroline McGowen, Pat Corby and Dick Sherouse. Betty is survived by her husband Jerry, sister Janet Bryan, daughters, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and generations of Denverite nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her memorial service will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 3411 S Taft St., Loveland, on Tuesday, June 22nd, 2021 at 11am.

Betty was such a delight to the staff at the Olde Course Golf Course. Her smile would light up the pro shop. She and Jerry played 18 holes every week (sometimes more) in the Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter mornings.
We mourn her loss but revel in having her a part of our lives.
Our condolences to jerry, Linda and Patricia.
