Obituary

Selma Marie Stolebarger, 68, died Saturday April 3rd 2021. Selma was born in Loveland, Colorado to Herbie and Martha Thomas July 28th 1952. They moved briefly to Wyoming before settling in Sugar Grove, North Carolina. Selma attended school there and graduated in 1969. She moved back to Loveland, Colorado in 1979 and married Roger Stolebarger where they raised 5 children together.

Selma spent most of career in the health care system where she just recently received her 20 years of service from UC Health. Selma loved to be in the kitchen and was always cooking for family get-togethers. She made beautiful cakes for many occasions. When not in the kitchen she loved the outdoors, camping and volunteered several years as a camp host at Hermit Park. Her love of animals included horses and dogs. She had horses growing up and her dogs over the years, Lady, Hondo, Tucker and Champ held a special place in her heart. Selma was an avid reader and liked to play games and puzzles with the kids and grandkids. She was a caring selfless person helping everyone in many ways. Words fail when describing her care and love for others. She will be deeply missed by so many. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Selma is survived by her husband Roger Stolebarger of Loveland, daughters Tammy Deterts of Estes Park, Julie Atkins (Kelly) of Loveland, Monica Stolebarger (Franklin) of Wellington, Missy Stolebarger of Co. Springs, 10 Grandkids, 24 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild, Best Friend Kat Dupre, and many other close friends.

Selma was preceded in death by her parents Martha and Herbie Thomas, her son Jason Stolebarger, her in-laws Cliff and Velda Stolebarger, son-in-law Larry Deterts and Grandson Joshua Deterts.

Selma and I started working at PVH on nearly the same day, and we worked side by side (literally!) for 12 years. Daily lessons in selflessness, caring and having a good laugh no matter what. I’m so sorry, Selma! I know you loved this life and your family very much. My heart is full of memories of you but sad that you’re not here. 🥰
